My M.A. thesis project on sentence schemata was based on the text corpus of ‘Tobia’, the first Ethiopian novel by Afe Worq Gebre Iyesus. The sentence schema as an idea developing that of the verb pattern shows the sequence of required syntactic units standing in intrasentence relations. The list of sentence schemata obtained from the text corpus consists of 17 items, including 4 quasi-verbal schemata.
